This photo of Dad speaks to me.
I'm not sure why. It's more than a baby photo.
Times were different then.

Elizabeth Scott
One of the few photos of my paternal grandmother. Elizabeth died a few days after Dad was born. She was only about 21 years old. Of course, Dad didn't know his birth mother. But he was raised in a family with so much love. He was so lucky that Anna and Don embraced dad and made a family with him. That love flowed down to me and the rest of us. Anna and Don were the grandparents I knew and who I am connected to.
Still, I cherish the photos of Elizabeth and I look in the mirror to see if I can find a resemblence. I love Elizabeth and Paul for my dad and our history. When I see the photos of them together, I see the love and strength of my birth grandparents.

Dean turns 50
All the brothers went through the facial hair stage.
Dean still has the beard but it is much nicer looking.
Maybe the hair cut helps too.
Dean (right) was always cutting up with his best bud, Rodney (left).
I thought I had lost these photos or had given them to Dean without making copies. They were among Dad's photographs so my guess would be that he snapped them but I dont' know. It could have been one of Dean's friends.
I found them today. Yeah!
Happy birthday little brother.

JWE and Sadie
Dad used to tell me stories of his pony Sadie. On our "Dad
Tours" to NE Ohio, he pointed out the spring by the road and the place he used to secure her after boarding the school bus.
Dad used to ride Sadie to the school bus stop.
Recently, Dad's sister, RuthAnn told me they had ponies who were retired from the mines. Dad never mentioned that but looking at Sadie's build it makes sense. Her neck and chest are thick and muscular. RuthAnn's favorite was "Jack" I think. Somewhere, there is a snap of Dad and RuthAnn together on a pony.
Same pony, younger boy.
Same pony. JWE as infant.
Whooaa there pony! Or should I say giddyup big guy!
I always wanted a horse or pony. Now I'm in my 50's and I'm finally taking the opportunity to take riding lessons. I run into so many people who tell me they grew up around horses and just got to hang out with them. They don't think about it and can't quite relate to this city girl.
I love the snaps of Dad with his pony.

Dry spell
Happy 2008.
Yes it has been a long time since I posted any old photos. Sorry, I will return with more at a later date. I haven't run out of photos, I just haven't organized for a while. There are many photos still to be scanned and identified. No promises as to when I will update. Margaret

JWE with Grandma & Grandad E 1928
I think the dog is saying throw the stick, throw the stick. You will note that Grandad has a hand on the stick and his shoulder. Steady James, just stand still for a minute.
JWE with his Grandmother E
JWE at 15 months 1923
This is the good life. I believe that is JWE's grandmother E on the porch.
Did you ever know this man when he didn't have a dog? Almost every photo of his childhood has a dog in it. Grandma E's photo of him that she kept on her dresser was of him as a young adult with his dog Bob. We always had a dog growing up. Probably the only time he didn't have one was the time between leaving the farm and when we got our first family dog, Rusty.
